STOCKWELL PARK RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION

Minutes of meeting held 13 July 2005 at 70 Stockwell Park Road.

1. Present:

2. Apologies:

3. Review of Summer Events – 25/26 June:
Children’s party:
There had been a good attendance and the children had enjoyed the show but agreed that such an event cannot be afforded in future without further funds.
Concert:
All agreed the concert was a great success but with disappointing attendance. Thanks to Carole Willis and Martin Keiffer for all their work, to the performers, and to Robert Soper for standing in for Martin. In an effort to boost numbers and income, consideration to be given to greater advance publicity, and to a family ticket including parents and children costing £20. Liz to discuss next year with Carole Willis. Noted we must: ensure availability of vestry door key; provide soft drinks for children. Date for 2006: Peter Manning has kindly agreed to perform next year and it has been agreed that this will be on Saturday 24 June.
Gardens open afternoon:
There had been a lovely varied selection of gardens and thanks had been sent to all the owners. Agreed to increase admission to £4 per head with children free.
Teas:
Thanks to Angharad Start and Charles Miskin, their beautiful garden had been a wonderful venue. Many thanks to Clare Dean for organising the teas for so many years and welcome to Jane Turcan who has agreed to take over this role. Agreed to purchase an extra 30 cups and saucers. Prices for next year to be discussed with Jane.
Barbeque:
Good attendance, enjoyed by everyone and Will and Maria Gotley’s garden had been ideal. Thanks to Darius and Jenny Poli for loaning barbeque and doing all the cooking. Noted: the hamburgers and sausages much appreciated but better buns are needed for hot dogs.

4. Treasurer’s Report:
Bills awaited for piano hire and printing concert programmes. Income from gardens £412, teas £187, barbeque over £200. Simon Doff to confirm final summer festival income at next meeting, when charitable donations can be considered.
The committee welcomed the AGM’s agreement to its proposal for voluntary subscriptions which will enable all monies raised at future summer events to be donated to charity.

5. Newsletter:
Simon Doff and Liz Aves will liaise on the content of a special issue to encourage voluntary subscriptions, to be distributed in September/October after the summer holidays.

6. Planning and environment:
New street lighting: Appreciation was expressed that Cllr Peter Bowyer has queried the criteria for selecting streets for new lighting, resulting in Lambeth investigating the possibility of funds to renew lights in more streets than just Groveway.

7. Neighbourhood Watch:
There had been reports of people going through recycling bags and wheelie bins. Liz to put a reminder in the newsletter of the desirability of shredding or tearing up all personal papers.

8. Stockwell Park High School:
Amanda and Liz to attend the open evening on 21 July on behalf of the committee.

9. Next meeting:
Tuesday 20 September at Amanda Cornish, 28 Stockwell Park Road

Thank you Martin for hosting this meeting.
