Review of Summer Festival
Feedback was very positive this year. Thanks got to everyone who helped to make the events such a success with special mention to:
Martin Keiffer
for the concert.
Ros and Jeremy
for hosting the teas with such aplomb, the weather not withstanding,
Stephanie and Mark Fairchild
for hosting the b-b-q,The gardeners
who allowed us the see the results of their work, And last but not least. Congratulations to
Jean Orr
for organizing the Church Flower Festival which raised £150.00 towards church funds.
Anthony invited suggestions for further improvement. Simon suggested that
we try to find glasses with a line to clarify how far a glass should be
filled at the bar for the concert and other events. We concluded that next
year we will fill the glass and charge £2.00 per glass.
Everyone agreed that the concert was as enjoyable as ever. Maria said that
she will liaise with Martin Keifler next year on behalf of SPRA.
Treasurer's report
The concert took £558.00 on tickets +
£185.00 on bar (slightly less than last year).
B-b-q took £202.00
Gardens took £302.00
Teas took £170.00
Total taken £1417.00 before outgoings.
Simon suggested that there should be numbered tickets for the teas and
that people should only be served on producing this ticket. He also felt
that there should be separate petty cash tins for the tea and b-b-q.
Donations: after all outstanding bills have been paid the bank balance is
about £1,000, the use of which is pending.
Martin suggested that in giving donations to local charities etc. we
should give money towards specific items. Liz will talk to Julie Fawcett
about whether or not our comparatively small donation to her youth club is
worthwhile given that potential users can earn enormous amounts of money
selling drugs.
Planning and Environment
congratulations to Simon because the Lorn Road lights are now in!
Thank you for all your well focused hard work on this project that so many people have worked on and despaired about! Simon will talk to Frances Forrest to ensure that the old lights are removed.
The night time noise at the church is no longer a problem. However Sunday afternoons can be a bit noisy.
S.P.C. Home
the proposal now consists of six flats with rear elevations. The Committee is very grateful to the residents dealing with this matter.
Bellway houses (corner S.P.C.)
the present building works are because Bellway did not put proper damp courses in the houses when they built them a few years ago.
Scotts Site (Clapham Road)
Unite have put the site up for sale and there are ideas that a supermarket may take it over.
Neighbourhood Watch
2 new bikes were stolen from 46 Stockwell Park Crescent despite neighbours seeing strange goings on. Please note ALWAYS report anything suspicious to the police. They are clear that they would rather have 100 false alarms and catch one criminal than no false alarms and no criminals caught. Also it does affect the number of police in the area and how they are used. Please pass this message on to friends and neighbours.
There has been a spate of car crimes in Stockwell Park Road with SAABs seeming to be a particular target!
After a discussion on the problems centred around Slade Gardens and drugs etc. it was decided that the Residents Association should approach Julie Fawcett, Paul McCann, Mr. Ece (Lambeth Parks Officer), (Amanda in discussion with Caroline also suggested Veronica Plowden so as to involve the adventure playground). Liz and Maria will discuss this further with a view to creating a group as above to work on making Slade Gardens a safe amenity for all residents of the surrounding area.
