Street Lighting:
North Lambeth Area Committee to be held on 4 September when decisions on lighting may be taken. Agreed that the number one goal short term is to improve current lighting. Also agreed that Edmund Bird at Lambeth should be encouraged to include street lighting in the conservation assessment which he is currently undertaking.
Planning and Environment:
189/191 Clapham Road (Scotts former site): A new application has been made, reducing proposed height of the building from 8 storeys to 7.
Trees: News awaited about pruning of trees at rear of Stockwell Park Road gardens. In the meantime, Anthony Gladstone-Thompson is to query rights of residents who have third party trees overpowering their properties.
62 Stockwell Park Road: Noted that a parking space has been created in the front garden of this property and that there are concerns that it is being used for commercial purposes.
Neighbourhood Watch: Noted that the police have recently issued notices to travellers at Stockwell tube station containing hints for personal safety when in the street. Agreed to include edited version in the newsletter.
Residents? guidelines: Elizabeth Aves highlighted an initiative of the Bedford Park Society to produce logbooks of each house and notes of how to look after properties in a conservation area. Whilst not recommending individual logbooks for houses in this area, she recommended considering production of SPRA guidelines on conservation area properties and how to maintain and upgrade them. Liz to investigate and make recommendations.
Date of next meeting: Tuesday 7 October at 7.30 pm at Simon Doff at 22 Burnley Road.
Thank you Anthony for hosting this meeting.
