LOCAL GARDENS OPEN
Sunday 26th June, 3.00 – 5.30 p.m.
An afternoon of gardens in the Stockwell Park Conservation Area.
Thank you to the people opening their gardens this year; as usual, a splendid selection.
These gardens will be open to visitors. Tickets can be bought at any of the gardens on the day. £3 per person to visit them all, children free. Garden descriptions written by owners.
Sorry, no dogs.
Paul and Kate Unwin: 20 Groveway
A very English garden with well-stocked herbaceous borders. Particularly impressive hostas. Come and visit them before the slugs do.
Tara Sanders and Matthew Bond: 220 Brixton Road.
A sunny contemporary garden with a mix of traditional and exotic planting. At less than a year old we still have a long way to go but, with fresh topsoil doing its best to replace the bricks and refrigerator bits, the garden is underway.
Garden entrance in Lorn Road
Now call in at the church for the Flower Festival
(voluntary donations to the church appreciated)
then continue on to:
Alice King-Farlow and Matthew Blakstad: 30 Stockwell Park Road.
Sunny garden with terrace, shady pergola, lawn and borders. Mix of established and newer planting, some areas still work in progress.
Clamber through gap at far end of right hand wall into next-door garden
Michael and Amanda Cornish: 28 Stockwell Park Road
A jungle clearing with trumpet vine, oleander and other bombastic shrubs and greenery gone wild. Ideal for drinking with cronies and hiding from canvassers and the local spotted woodpecker.
Mary and Mike Stott: 48 Stockwell Park Crescent
Small, brick paved cottage type garden with pond and mixed annual and perennial flowers in beds and pots
4.00 – 6.00 p.m. Tea in Angharad Start and Charles Miskin’s lovely garden
6.00 - 7.00 p.m. Stay on for a simple mini-barbecue next door in Maria and
Will Gotley’s garden at 60 Stockwell Park Crescent: sausages,
burgers, everything served in a bun, roll or wrap.
