Yvonne Okiyo is the Lambeth Anti Race and Faith-Hate Crime Coordinator. As part of her role she is working towards prevention and reduction of race and faith-hate crime in Lambeth, improving services available for victims and witnesses of race and faith-hate crime, working in partnership with statutory agencies and community/voluntary agencies and the community in tackling race and faith-hate crime in the Borough through raising awareness of it and increasing reporting of such crimes as they are under reported. Racist and Faith/Religious Hate Crime take on a variety of forms such as:
IS IT AGAINST THE LAW?
Yes. It is a very serious offence. Offenders will receive a severe sentence if found guilty. Sentences range from 6 months to 14 years depending on the severity of the crime.
