2001 Census Results

Information from the 2001 census has just been published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Key points from the 2001 census:

1. London is once again home to more than 7 million residents, for the first time since 1971.

2. Lambeth is still the largest Inner London Borough with a resident population of 266,170.

3. 45% of Lambeth residents are aged 20-40 - this compares with a London figure of 36% and an England figure of 26%.

4. Lambeth has a population density of 98 persons per hectare, compared to London's 46 and England's 4.
